DARK HORSE DELIGHT FOR DUFFIELD

Ann Duffield trained her first Group-race winner for Qatar Racing when Dark Reckoning landed today's Gr.3 William Hill Firth Of Clyde Stakes at Ayr. The winning filly was an unconsidered 25/1 shot, but she was given an ice-cool ride by Graham Lee, who held his nerve and stayed hard by the running rail on the fastest strip of ground until a gap appeared inside the final furlong. He told Sky News: "I got on to the fence and it was just a case of riding her for luck." Dark Reckoning won by a short-head from Parsley, with another Qatar Racing runner, Ainippe, a further two and a quarter lengths behind in third. Duffield said: "This filly has done nothing wrong. She's won two races and deserves her rating of 90. "I'm glad she's justified our faith from day one and has managed to win a Group Three."
